The Elmira Kendrick Memorial Scholarship/Book Award

Elmira Kendricks.png

For nearly twenty years, Elmira Kendrick was the eldest member of the Tripp Jones family. Affectionately known as Missy Mira to all those who knew and loved her, Elmira was a dedicated member of the Tripp Jones family, having never missed a reunion since its inception in 1975. Let us remember that Elmira's life was not only a testimony of her love and compassion but also a blessing to all those whom she encountered.

To preserve her legacy, the first Elmira Kendrick Memorial Scholarship/Book Award was sponsored by her immediate family in 2003 at the Tripp Jones Family Reunion held in Americus, GA—Elmira's birthplace. The scholarship/book award will be awarded to students on the college, high school, middle school, and elementary school levels. An award is also made available to a graduating college senior who plans to continue their education in graduate or professional school in the fall semester immediately following their college graduation.

Recipients of the Elmira Kendrick Memorial Scholarship/Book Award must be active participants in the Tripp Jones Family Reunion. Recipients must also demonstrate qualities that exemplify the legacy of Elmira and her hopes for the Tripp Jones family—a commitment to service (both religious and community) and excellence in scholastic achievement.
